Abstract
The global system for mobile communication (GSM) is generally accepted standard for digital cellular communication. At the first GSM solution was meant only for sound communication. But with introduction of new generation of mobile telephony that support the standards for fast packet data transmission data like GPRS and UMTS, the usage was spread on new areas previously limited with more efficient transmission medias. Examples for that kind of usage are mobile computer network, multimedia data transmission and sensor divided systems etc. A lot of research teams work on this expert fields but they usually provide only partial solution.
The project purpose is to design and construct the prototype of complex hierarchical organized sensor/control system components that enables the capture transmission of high quality images through mobile networks. Compression methods for image information contents are needed for effective images transfer through bandwidth limited communication channel. JPEG method is the most known standard method on the field of lossy methods, but it gives bad results at bigger compression rations. The best that kind of method is based on Wavelet transformation. Codek (coder - decoder) develop of colored images is going to be based on our experiences in Wavelet transformation at compression greylevel images. We will choose the combination of filter bank and code scheme for our study, which will be optimal from point of view rate-distortion and numerical complexity. Coder prototype is going to be realized in compact accomplishment with digital signal processor (DSP). We have to study packet data transmission GPRS and UMTS standards and design communication interface for compressed images transfer.
