Abstract
The objective of the proposed project is to find out and evaluate the effects of water abstractions on alpine running waters. The research will be done on hydrological different types of alpine running waters, at the sections, where the hydrological regime is changed due to water abstractions. At the sampling points, the inventory of flora and fauna will be done and hydrological, hydraulic, morphological, chemical and physical parameters will be measured. The analyses will be carried out in different seasons of the year, at different water flows. Links among the parameters, which form the water ecosystem, will be analyzed with selected statistical methods. The results of the study will be the basis for decision on ecologically acceptable flow (EAF) for treating alpine running waters, with consideration the duration, the quantity and the length of water abstractions. According to results of measurement, the EAF will be evaluated and determined on treating running waters, with consideration the economy of existing water abstractions. The purpose of the project is to find out the new cognition about altering alpine running waters, their structure and function. The guidelines for EAF determination with selected parameters for alpine running waters, according to European recommendation, will be prescribed.
