Abstract
Pelvic inflammatory disease are common cause or fertility problems of young women. For effective treatment it is of major importance following the dynamic of pathology process. Procalcitonin in new marker that was found doubtlessly useful in diagnostics of sepsis. We want to investigate if procalcitonin would help in more effective tracing of pelvic inflammatory disease. It would also rationalise the treatment in terms of costs, time efficiency and effectivness. In our study we will analyse the dynamic of serum procalcitonin level in group of patients with pelvic inflammation disease from the beginning of the treatment to normalisation of all clinical and laboratory parameters of inflamation. We will also analyse procalcitonin level at a group of patients after a major pelvic surgery and at a group of healthy women as s control group. With this study we would like to define precisely the sensitivity, specificy and positive and negative predictive value of procalcitonin in pelvic inflammatory disease.
