Abstract
WHO reposts declared tuberculosis (TB) a major problem worldwide. Overall one-third of the world population is currently infected with the TB bacillus. Over a quarter of a million TB cases per year occur in Eastern Europe. Latent TB can be reactivated in high risk group of patient population, such as end-stage renal failure patients, also in "reach" countries. They are prone to TB infection due to a defect in cellular immunity. The incidence is reported to be 10 - 16 times higher than in general population. Renal failure in immigrants is associated with extremly high rates of TB regarding migration from disease - epidemic areas. Patients receiving hemodialysis spend prolonged period of time together in health - care facilities, thereby increasing the potential for TB transmission if a patients has an active disease. Therefore, routine tuberculosis screening of end-stage renal failure patients has been recommended.
In these research we want to evaluate TB scin test as a screening diagnostic procedure in chronic renal failure patients; to early detect infective patients and to treat them in order to prevent the spread of the TB infection.
