Abstract
Global economy (and Slovenia as its part as well) creates also in the field of manufacturing processes new working conditions. These conditions are based mainly in linkage as well as intensive use of existing and development of new knowledge and fast adaptation in dynamically environment. The competitive position of production depend on use of new solutions based on existing systems and introduction of totally new and innovative products and services - INNOVATIVE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS - I2S. I2S have to be based on constant communications between real production system (MPx) and digital one which is mainly computer based (CAx). Both systems use knowledge and experiences from the knowledge base (CBS), which will be refined after the evaluation as well.
Significance for science
Researchers of the project team have with their current research work gained positive echoes in the international scientific community. The presented research programme was focused towards intensified research work on particular research areas as well as synergetic effects of particular fields into the unique research programme "Innovative production systems". Through this important achievements have been gained also in the interdisciplinary connections of particular production technologies. Good examples are linkage of the alternative production technologies and forming technology in the field of incremental forming with water jet and shortening of the production chains for micro parts where the micro reactors for chemical industry were considered as a case study. In both cases the research works represent innovative solution by solving of presented cases. Researchers of the project consortium have presented their research work also to the international scientific community in international journals and gained positive response with several citations of the most important results. The main achievements of the research programme were performed in the field of: • basic research and modelling of relation between innovative manufacturing systems, where modern procedures of forming and material removal with direct energy input will be used and both will be connected on logistics based technology of handling and assembly, • development of measuring methods, adaptive systems and actuators based on linear motors and proportional and servo hydraulic, • building data and expert bases, • development of decision making systems for selecting processes, • increasing flexibility, reliability (Zero Defect Production) and accessibility of manufacturing systems and processes, • analysis of the stability of the manufacturing processes, • process control and real time measures, • cost (and price) decrease by quality control of input components with concurrent unchanged part quality by implementing of contiuous process control and stabilisation.
Significance for the country
The programme consortium is well equipped and has adequate working conditions, important part of the research infrastructure and space is also granted by the industry which is strong connected with the programme group. The important part of its research activities is dedicated towards actual needs of national economy and society. One of the primary goals of the programme consortium is to develop the research achievements to the level where they are suitable for fast implementation into the Slovene industry. Several research activities started as basic research projects, later were prolonged into applied research and finally successful transferred into the industry. The program consortium is aware of its mission also in wider social means since one of the key objectives is improvement of technological level of Slovene industry. As a result there were some crucial knowledge transfers into practice (presented more in details in the report for the period 2004-2008). These transfers are additionally eviden as after finishing their postgraduate studies some programme members were nominated on leading positions in Slovene industry (Dr. Gantar – director of TECOS Celje, Dr. Nardin – director of Gorenje Orodjarna, Dr. Nastran – director of Domel Automotive). Results of such research orientation of the programme consortium are several new concepts of development activities of Slovene companies, presence in international markets, increase of competitive position and technological level, the production oriented reorganisation of some companies, optimisation of purchasing, production, assembly and marketing. With such activities the programme consortium proves the use of state-funded money to increase the added-value of Slovene products and consequently to increase the flow back to the state budget.
