Abstract
The proposal suggests nuclear structure studies near doubly magic 100Sn using in-beam spectroscopy. The GAMMASPHERE Ge detector array at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory was used to study 98Cd produced in the 46Ti and 58Ni reaction. The measured data is currently being analysed in Ljubljana. An experiment was proposed by us and approved at iThemba LABS in which we will study reactions leading to the sythesis of superheavy elements. Such experiments will be done with the AFRODITE detector system.
