Abstract
The proposed research project addresses the design and development of broadband wireless access network. At first the system and network architecture will be defined and a set of required broadband services will be identified. After that, the existing standards will be defined and appropriate frequency band will be chosen. In the design of air interface we will develop new techniques, which will improve the quality of radio link and enable higher bit rates. We are also planning a development of new algorithms based on software radio technology and an implementation of new procedures with DSP development tool. We will develop and test in the OPNET Modeler simulation tool our new routing algorithms considering different traffic classes. Our broadband wireless access network will serve both mobile and fixed wireless user and will be based on IP protocol stack. Finally, we also intend to investigate the resource management and mobility techniques and develope new dynamic channel allocation strategies.
