Abstract
With the proposed project we endeavor exploit the cross-talk between cell cycle regulation and cholesterol homeostasis and drug metabolism in liver. Humans are exposed to broad spectrum of xenobiotics that activate nuclear receptors. Their chronic activation can lead to liver tumorigenesis. Disrupted cholesterol homeostasis is one of the malignant transformation of cancer cells. We will investigate cholesterol biosynthesis in different stages of cell cycle as well as the impact of nuclear receptor activation on hepatocyte cell cycle and apoptosis regulation.
