Abstract
This research project will study the syntax of the participle and infinitive in Classical Greek prose with an emphasis on the style of Thucydides. Its main goal is to explain the syntax of the participle and the infinitive in Classical Greek prose in terms of the Slovenian School of Naturalness Theory, as it has developed in its most recent version at the University of Ljubljana under the guidance of Prof. Janez Orešnik. Its principles have not yet been applied to Classical Greek syntax, representing an innovation in the field of classical philology. Due to the very high frequency of the infinitive and the participle in Thucydides' writings, it is expected that the results of the project will make a considerable contribution to the further development of this theory.
