Abstract
According to the proposed project, our intention is to enhance the quality of valid modelling of complex structures using the frequency-domain approach and super-models. Being valid, the super-models will be a mathematical-physical representation of real structures (systems), adapted for use in various simulation analyses of many technical systems. The validity of the super-models will be verified experimentally. This way of modelling is required for new products being developed in the industry, anywhere where there is a vibration problem, therefore, for many products in and outside Slovenia. Finally, according to the current state-of-the-art in structural dynamics, this approach will also be an achievement in the scientific sense.
Significance for science
Existing methods of valid modelling were integrated with our own approaches and experiences in structural dynamcis. We demonstrated consisted approach in valid models building in the case of dynamic behaviour of complex structures. We integrated the analyses in the time and frequency domains, several types of modelling (linear and non-linear) and seeral types of numerical tools. The result of the described approach is complementary to the existing approaches in the field of valid modelling and updating procedures in structural dynamics.
Significance for the country
Laboratory for dynamics of machines and structures is the leading group of experienced researchers in Slovenia providing consistent approach to structural dynamics modelling. This research group is transferring their knowledge in structural dynamics systematically to big Slovene industries via different schemes, including several (eight PhD projects in eight years) succesfully conluded PhD projects under the scheme of young researchers and applied research projects. Doing so the knowledge in Slovenia of tackling the design of products regarding decrased noise and increased live time is constantly increasing.
