Abstract
Introducing Bologna process into the study programmes requires a modification of the higher education didactics of pedagogical studies in the technical field. A more modern way of study, which increases the quality of learning and optimizes the time of study using the information communication technology (ICT), will have to be established. The development of ICT has made a significant progress in the recent years and has become a part of our life that cannot be avoided. ICT successfully combines people, information and various kinds of education, thus offering new opportunities for the development of didactics and the use of appropriate methodology. Practice is a very important part of technical education. The students get familiar with various new tools, machinery and the ways of their usage, they also learn about materials and their properties in the appropriate laboratories; in general, these contents need more than simply some theoretical interpretation. Modelling using the ICT enables simulations and presentations of various procedures that are otherwise only possible in the laboratories. The crucial part of the project will be a scientific research carried out among the teachers of technical programmes, students of technical education and their professors (including assistants). Within this research, their expectations about the necessity, rationality and especially advantages of the ICT implementation into the higher education didactics of technical education process will be looked into; particularly from the point of view of implementing new processes, according to the Bologna declaration. The result of the project will offer an application designed as a platform for communication among the teachers of technical education, technical education students and their professors. The application will also enable two- or omni-direction long-distance knowledge transfer, exchange of experience, opinions and viewpoints, self-assessment and progress verification of adoption new matters to individual or a group. ICT has been successfully introduced into the majority of European education systems. In the recent years, the introduction of ICT into our education system has been underway, so the suggested application would represent the vertical connection of the Slovene education system, from primary schools to the Universities.
Significance for science
The scientific research considered the implementation of new processes that have been brought in line with the Bologna Declaration and the provided information and communication platform, which is the result of the project, is based on the same requirements. The research project fully follows the guidelines of the research policy that has been intensively investing into the development of information sciences in the last years and stressing the importance of human resources and communication as well as the development of social cohesion. The project is very important for the development of technical sciences, since the introduction of ICT in the technical education will increase the attractivness of the technical studies and consequently lead to increased interes in the technical studies of youth. At the same time the research project fully follows the Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in Slovenia through 2010 (si2010) and the guidelines of the research policy that has been intensively investing into the development of information sciences in the last years and stressing the importance of human resources and communication as well as the development of social cohesion.
Significance for the country
By reaching the set aim, the research project fully follows the Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in Slovenia through 2010 (si2010) and the guidelines of the research policy that has been intensively investing into the development of information sciences in the last years and stressing the importance of human resources and communication as well as the development of social cohesion. By using modern information and communication methods, the project enables the vertical connection of the Slovenian system of education into a communication cycle in the field of special didactics of technical sciences. At a time, when technical education programmes are in shortage, such an information and communication cycle in this field represents a great motivation to all involved in the educational process. The implementation of the Bologna process in Slovenian higher education enables certain advantages to the study process despite heated debates on reduced quality of the study process itself. In this respect, I would especially like to stress the facilitation of student mobility along with the mobility of the academic and administrative personnel, the establishing of the ECTS credit system for evaluating student workload, the facilitation of the European dimension in higher education and lifelong learning. The old study programmes need to be adapted and thus higher education didactics of pedagogical studies in the technical field needs to change.
