Abstract
The research will be, content wise, divided into three parts: in first, shorter theoretical part, I will problematize the concept of globalization with regard to literature and literary semantics. In second, main part, I will deal with analysis of concept of family and love in time of globalization where I will pay special attention to key research from the fields of social theory, feminism and historical anthropology. I will begin a comparative analysis of literary texts – with emphasis on works of Slovenian authors and selected works from English literature. On one hand I will be interested if theoretical definitions of love and family are in accord with literary representations and on the other hand I will try to find out what contributions to understanding of analyzed notions literary depictions can bring. I will emphasize that the image of traditional family is more and more disappearing from contemporary prose and motif of disintegrated family is replacing it; showing the crisis of family identity. I will emphasize the thesis that crisis of the family does not represent the end of the family but points to the fact that individuals aim at revaluation of values which coincides with political-economic changes. In third part I will deal with the concept of family in relation to ethnic problems. I will begin an analysis of prose by Slovenians living abroad – attention will be directed on prose of Carinthian and Italian Slovenians. I will compare literary construct of family and partner relationship of Slovenian authors living abroad with depictions of those authors who write within Slovenian borders. I will be mainly interested in what the role of family is in cultural imaginary of minority communities and how does “unfamiliar” social environment influence the construction of family and love ties or relationships. Ethnical problems will also be analyzed in central Slovenian novels or short stories – I will be interested in what ways have the authors in recent years redefined their heroes and heroines within Slovenian, European and global space. I will emphasize a few prose works from English literature which describe the lives of people within multicultural communities, in order to illuminate relation between ethnical problems and construction of family (partner) relationship. In last chapter I will be interested in how the technological development influences the construction of gender identities and conception of love. The research will be approached in four work stages: 1. reading of literary works and content analysis, 2. analysis of theoretical concepts, 3. interviews with selected literary authors 4. writing report.
