Abstract
New platinum coordination compounds will be prepared reacting cis-diamindichloroplatinum(II) and haloplatinates with organic ligands. Interactions of metal ions with biological macromolecules will be studied by quantummechanical modeling and the results compared with EXAFS measurements. Thin films appropriate for sensors will be developed. The mechanisms of halogen introduction into organic molecules and their influence on biological activity of new molecules will be studied.
Significance for science
Materials that exhibit intensive fluorescence in solid state can be potentially used as organic electroluminescence devices, fluorescent sensors, and in photodynamic therapy. Transformation under the solvent-free reaction conditions contribute importantly to the reduction of use of solvents and enhance the cost efficiency. Reactions with high degree of the atomic economy were demonstrated in several cases, thus opening the potential feasibility of processes on a larger scale. Extensive results gave us sufficient knowledge to perform second research step – demonstration project of in situ stabilization of PTE.
Significance for the country
The results of the basic research achieved in the framework of the programme have considerable applicative impact since the application of the principles of green chemistry in new technologies is an essential priority in chemical and pharmaceutical industry. The most relevant importance of our inventions is those dealing with aerobic oxidative transformations of organic compounds accompanied with use of aqueous hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant in chemical synthesis. The knowledge get in the programme have already been used in the following cooperation with Slovene companies: - Krka Pharmaceuticals: Comercialisation of new protocols for APIes production developed in our laboratories should bring incomes measured in MIO euros - ACIES BIO; hightec Biotecnology Company. New protocols for synthesis of small molecules syntnones for biosynthesis of APIes developed in our laboratories are actually in preliminarily tested on laboratory and semi-pilot scale. When commercialized should result in MIO euros incomes. - Ecot; non human cosmetics productions; The regarding environmentally friendly new products (auto cosmetics, cleaning products..) developed in our laboratories have been already commercialized with cca 100.000 euros income. - Semenarna agrochemicals: The new gametocide developed and on laboratory scale prepared in our laboratories has demonstrated even better activity than those actually used in agrochemical treatment of wheat. If commercialized, its production should bring considerable income
