Significance for science
The complex approach to understanding, measuring, and handling stress brings a more structured, clearer, and more precise understanding of the multidimensionality of stressful influences and the resulting activities. Trying to control and possibly avoid distress states will be of key importance. Probably for the first time, the control will be exerted during processing, responding to and conveying mental stress. The fatigability criteria that will be introduced will provide for balanced experimental groups before blood sampling for genetic and microbiological analyses and before the application of psychophysiological, psychopathological, and psychological tests. According to our data, the approach to stress utilised in our research programme has never been used before.
Significance for the country
In Slovenia, in the past few years numerous education programmes pertaining to stress have been found that lack basic critical approach. Our research will enable a different, more specific, and more precisely defined understanding of stress. In our integral assessment we will attempt to combine biological and mental results. Complex, multidimentional, and global assessment may help us more closely define the detrimental effects of stress on human health and the trends of stress activities on the body-mind continuum.
