Significance for science
The research results of the project led us to interesting discoveries in the theory of foliations and the theory of orbifolds, and therefore represent an important contribution to the mathematical science. Most of the results have already been published in the internationally respected mathematical journals. In the research we collaborated with some of the leading research groups in the world in our field. We presented our results at international conferences.
Significance for the country
The results of the project are a contribution to the development of mathematical sciences in Slovenia, in particular in the fields of geometry and topology. As a consequence, this helps us to develop and to improve the quality of post-graduate education in Slovenia. Education of young researchers respectively post-docs is one of the important indirect impacts of the proposed project for society. Furthermore, the impact of the Slovenian mathematical science in the world contributes to the international reputation of Slovenia.
