Significance for science
Development of new UV absorbers are an important contribution to the fundamental knowledge about UV absorption of individual substance such as exstract of lignin that was shown high absorbance values in the UV region of 200-400 nm. The research include analysis of UV absorption of lignin and its derivates extracted from pine wood, and development of application method for fibre-forming polymer materials, which will represent an authentic scientific contribution on the field of textile materials with UV protective properties. This extract is composed from different components, i.e. mainly from pinosylvine and pinosylvine monomethyl ether, followed by oxo-matairesinol and ArMe.X-lignin and their derivates with high absorption maximum between wavelength of 200 and 350 nm, and are important also for UVA region. Additionally, TiO2, 25% Na2SiO3 - 30% TiO2 and zinc oxide as the most common UV absorbers were examined as well as dyestuffs that also impact on UV protective properties. With proposed project we wonted study different application possibilities, according to various exhaustion or impregnation processes using different auxiliaries and additives and ultrasound. Hence, UV absorbers reactivity, solubility and sorption ability we investigated.
Significance for the country
The obtained knowledge on the field of development and fundamental research of UV absorbers extracted from wood and lignin absorbers will represent the important potential for development of real textile materials with UV protective properties. Processing of such materials means the production of special products with high added value and with high market potential, because of the harmful UV radiation for people health. The important part of the project will be development of UV absorbers application and consequently development of technology for different textile materials for summer cloths. From the statements above, it could be concluded that the presented project will have significant impact on development of new products in business companies, and thus on progress and successfulness of the society. As mentioned above, the presented research has also an important influence on the development of new UV protective products in the companies, which deal with textile materials and products. At the same time, the production of UV absorbers on the basis on pine wood extract and others derivatives on TiO2 basis will be feasible. We could conclude that the realization of this project will have an impact on the development of different branches; it will be possible to make individual product in the existential productions as well as in new-established factories.
