Significance for science
The research a project sets new standards for the understanding the consequences of the World War I, in a narrow material point of view and in the broader spiritual understanding of war. The World War I set also new standards in the pre-war system of human values , bit the World after the war had also produced processes of mithologization of the effects of the war on the future of the belligerent states and their population. The project work proceeded simultaneously with the studies and findings of the European historiography on the demographic effects of the World War I (conferences, other means of communication), so that en important collateral effect of the project was also a simultaneous updating of the findings and data bases of the European researches. The project places the project group into the modern Europeans historiographical and scientific environment. The archive work, which sets the basis for any further analyses, enables us to set the models for establishing the demographic impact, on the other hand the amount of the primary archival sources on the Slovene history and its integration into European history grows. The interdisciplinary methodology of the research work sets new standards for the future work of the Slovene historiographical work and brings up some new and fresh issues and an innovative approaches in the research of the demographic and historiographical themes.
