Significance for science
The proposed project includes variety of methodological aspects and presents a successful example of integral research of environmental problems and sustainable oriented landscape sources management. The project is based on the geographical (regional) point of view but important for all research fields that deal with the environmentprotection topics; it means the research fields that are trying to find out the state and the conditions in the environment and its sources . At the same time the project stresses the need for interdisciplinary cooperation.
Significance for the country
Slovenia as the EU member state ratified the Energy and Climate Change Package. That means a very active enrolment in the activities connected with the obligations demanded by the new post Kyoto document. The proposed project presents an ideal example of cooperating the science with the economics, especially the energy sector at the local and regional level (the beneficiary). Various methodologies are proposed in the work programme; a very urgent (global) problems of exaggerated CO2 emissions and excessive exploitation of natural (nonrenewable) sources could be (al least partly) solved with the found out results. The results of research would also help the social sector and economics to consider the possibilities and guidelines of more sustainable management with landscape (natural and socio-economic) sources according to international and national law on preventive environment protection.
