Abstract
Surface integrity of surface layers will be studied for several materials after various processes of mechanical machining and/or heat treatment and laser cutting, and on the basis of this research the particular processes will be optimized. The data on surface integrity will be included into corresponding databases on materials which will facilitate the production engineer the selection of most appropriate machining conditions for various processes. In the scope of laser-hardening and laser surface melt-hardening research, a physico-mathematical model will be built with the purpose to optimize these processes. The results calculated according to the model will be experimentally tested by describin surface integrity. The research study of surface refinements will include several different processes such as laser hardening, laser surface remelting and various processes of surfacing and spraying. The suitability of particular laser heat treatment procedures applied to surfaced and sprayed layers will be defined.
