Significance for science
In the project the guidelines and possibilities for the reaching of goal consisting of reduction of the use of PPP and/or guidelines for research work in the field of sanitary protection of plants are presented. The project contains possibilities for development, stimulation and performance of research work connected with the control of harmful organisms. Special emphasis is devoted to knowledge, research, development and optimization of technological processes referring to the development and implementation of production possibilities of agricultural plants connected with crop rotation, choice of varieties, choosing of proper locations of plantations, training forms, plant nutrition, soil cultivation, mechanical control of harmful organisms, alternative types of plant protection, biotic plant protection, anti-resistant strategy, etc. The points emphasized above may have an important impact on the direction and development of the research work in agriculture.
Significance for the country
The presented results of the current project form a basis for the creation of an action plan of Slovenia aiming at reduction of risks and influence of the use of PPP on the human health and the environment that Slovenia has to prepare following the Directive 2009/128/ES. The project defines the fact that the creation of this plan must not influence negatively the extent of production or the worsening of the economic situation of producers but it ht has to follow the practical principles of assurance and/or improvement of food safety in Slovenia. Options are given and the measures required for the reduction of risk due to the use of PPP for major agricultural plants are presented. The project presents indexes that will allow monitoring risks and influence of the use of PPP in Slovenia and taking measures if deviations may occur. Definition of possibilities and conditions for the reduction of the use of PPP also lays down guidelines for a more accordant coherent development of Slovenian agriculture and better use of environmental friendlier approaches of plant protection which have a long-term positive impact on our environment. Guidelines for the reduction of negative influence of the use of PPP on human beings and environment in Slovenia are given. Creation of normalized index of use of PPP allows a balanced presentation of the laod of PPP and/or a.s. per hectare and, consequently, a more real picture of the use of PPP in Slovenia.
