Abstract
The objective of the EMECAP Project is to improve the tools at Regulatory Bodies disposal in planning the actions to safeguard citizen's health from mercury pollution. In particular, the Project targets the Mercury Cell Chloe-Alkali (MCCA) sector since it constitutes one of the most important mercury sources. Occupants are all over the world, and 63 units are operating in Europe. This underlines the importance of investigating possible relationships between mercury emissions, environmental damages and onset of pathologies in human population living in the neighbourhood of choler-alkali plants. The Project intends to develop all the required tools to improve the understanding of the mercury pollution problem; analysers, dosimeters, a dispersion model and a software tonnage bioenvironmental data. The work is supported by two real studies.
