Abstract
Rising international competitivnes among industrial countries gives ever greater importance to planing, control, and production. Short orders'' throughput times, high reliability of delivery time limits, and low stocks are becoming the key productional goals. Therefore plays the adaptability estimation of flexible manufacturing systems an important role in the production planning process.
Adaptability is a property of a flexible manufacturing system which is a hardly measurable quantity. References about a research work done in this sence can be hardly if at all found. The present research shows posibilities for adaptability estimation on a base of:
- substitutional units of a FMS,
- substitutional working utilities, and
- substitutional tools.
A number of substitutional resources is compared to a number of resources demanded for the actual order''s completeness.
The present research work defines the coeficient of adaptability for units of flexible manufacturing system, working utilities, and tools. On the base of all mentioned coeficients the adaptability coeficient of the whole system is defined. Simulation also gives some useful results, hte values of the coeficient of adaptability. This kind of adaptability''s analisys helps at:
- investment into tools, and
- investment into working utilities,
- investment into new machines,
- choosing the tools at NC programing,
- choosing of more or less important or even urgetn orders.
