Abstract
Vision plays a key role in human perception. Image processing requires tremendous computing resources, which cannot be provided by general purpose computer structures. The objective of the proposed project is to supply all theoretical and technological components of system tools for fast image reconstruction and for transmission of images over telecommunication networks. The algorithms and the corresponding structures should increase the computational throughput relying on parallel processing and pipelining of multidimensional signals. We have to improve our tools over the earlier results, carried out during last research period 1993-96, in important aspects, such as efficiency, real-time processing capabilities, hardware structure realisation, streamline synchronisation with other datatypes, etc.
Verification activities will be pursued both inside the project and partly in other COST projects.
