Abstract
The cities of Toulouse (France), Debrecen (Hungary) and Ljubljana (Slovenia), their public transport operators, the private sector and research institutions are committed to establish a European partnership for 'Sustainable Mobility Measures and Innovations in Transport' (SUMMIT).Aiming for radical strategies for clean urban transport, the political leaders of the three cities joined forces to create a new culture for clean mobility in European cities in the wider frame of sustainable development, broad participation of all relevant actors and particular care of social inclusion. The cities have developed a solidly packaged work programme which addresses all eight CIVITAS Policy Fields in an integrative approach. The highlights of policy areas are:- broadening the use of alternative fuels and clean vehicles through large-scale operation of clean vehicles for public transport (CNG, bio fuels);- emphasising on determining the optimum mix of alternative fuels, following EU objectives to migrate in long-term from bio-fuel
