Abstract
The research programme comprehended three main parts. The first part is involved with the study of kinematics and kinetics of sewing machine''s working mechanisms in relation to dynamic loading of thread, aiming to prepare the simulation of stitch formation. The second part refers to the study of requirements, needed to set up the model of the thread and fabric. The third part of the research relates to the study of the influence of particular parameters in a model of stitch formation and design of stitch formation model. Taking into account the planned goals, extended research work on study of kinematics and kinetics of sewing machine’s working mechanisms have been carried out in 1997. In the 1998 research of the needle bar and take-up lever activity, loading forces analysis during the stitch formation process and the thread behaviour model in sewing process was carried out.
