Abstract
European centres of excellence operating in the field of thermal metrology offer technical expertise and research and development capabilities that are world class. However they are geographically scattered and the information and expertise they offer is not uniformly accessible to all potential industrial beneficiaries. This results in less efficient, less competitive and more environmentally polluting industrial products and processes. EVITherM will address this problem by creating a coordinated, Internet based infrastructure, which is a focal point for European organisations operating in the thermal metrology field. It will provide a forum for the interchange of ideas and technology between members and will disseminate new measurement techniques, best practice and research outputs to industry to increase the skill level of its workforce and improve its products and processes.
