Abstract
Electrical characteristics and long term stability of thick film resistors were studied. Correlations between current noise and long term stability of thick film resistors were investigated. The influence of firing temperature and time at the highest temperature as well as interactions between resistor film and substrate on electrical characteristics were studied. Thick film materials for so called diffusion patterning technology, which enables miniaturisation of thick film multilayer structures with standard thick film technology, were evaluated. Custom designed electronic circiuts were realised as thick film hybrids and with surface mount technology on printed circuit board with the aim of comparing and evaluating relative merits of these two technologies. New, ecological more acceptable, solvents and no clean fluxes, and polymer materials for component attachment were tested. Characteristics of these materials were compared with characteristics of ''''older'''' materials. Oscillation based test structures with built-in semiconducting switches for testing complex thick film hybrid circuits were studied.
