Abstract
The overall objective of the MEDA GO TO EUROPE project is to raise the quantity and quality of research projects from participants as partners - particularly from Mediterranean Countries - in all types of instruments, in Thematic Priority 5 'Food Quality a nd Safety' (TP5) of future FP7. Thereby, the project will ensure an increased number of successful participants for FP7 and foster the cooperation between research communities from Member States and Mediterranean Countries, thus contributing to the creation of a real European Research Area including Mediterranean Countries. This overall objective will be achieved by three major lines of activities: 1. capacity building and supporting a network of technical support organisations in Mediterranean Countries, and supporting the research communities in Mediterranean Countries with tailor-made information, assistance and services. 2. Organisation of match making between European and Mediterranean organisations 3. participating to the definition of Framework Programme 7 by taking into account the expectations of Mediterranean countries For the implementation, a workplan consisting of 7 workpackages has been put together, including Mapping of partners, Training for support organisations and for researchers, Exchange of experience & expertise, Match-making, Preparation of the Framework programme 7, Dissemination and networking activities, and Management. In order to fulfil these objectives, a project consortium consisting of 16 partners from 12 countries has been set up. These partners are representing Mediterranean Countries (8), EU Member States (6) and Candidate states (2) and have a profile of technical support. The MEDA GO TO EUROPE project is relevant to the objectives of Thematic Priority 5, since it will s upport the participation of researchers from academia & industry particularly from Mediterranean Countries in the Thematic Priority 5.
