Significance for science
It is definitely important for the science in general to establish whether there exist some hadrons that are not conventional mesons qq or baryons qqq. During the past decade, the experiments have discovered candidates for hadrons that may not have such a structure. We have presented the first ab-initio simulations of the relevant exotic channels using the Quantum ChromoDynamics on the lattice. The results of the project have received the wide recognition of the theoretical and experimental community. First principle lattice simulations of ChromoDynamics have immensely advanced in the recent years due to the rapid rise of the super-computer power, but also due to the new theoretical ideas and algorithms. The simulations prior to the beginning of the project have relayed on two serious approximations concerning the relevant hadrons: hadronic resonances were simulated as if they did not decay strongly, and effects of thresholds were neglected. Within the project, we have performed the pioneering simulations that took these two important effects into account for the first time.
Significance for the country
The pioneering results obtained within the project have undoubtedly promoted reputation of Slovenian scientists and the country as a whole. The number of invited talks on the related results over the past few years indicate that Slovenian scientists on the project have played a leading role on topics like Hadron spectroscopy, Hadron interactions and Exotic Hadrons. The collaboration with the Austrian scientists within this FWF-ARRS project was extremely valuable and fruitful. The closely connected research of the Austrian PI, prof. Christian B. Lang, and Slovenian PI, prof. Saša Prelovšek Komelj, was the key to the success of the project. The successful collaboration, that was established, calls for further collaboration between Austrian and Slovenian scientists.
