Abstract
The project is concerned with the development of a performance-based seismic design method that explicitly considers the inelastic response of 3D structural systems. Every step is based on fundamental physical concepts that make the design process transparent and equally applicable to the seismic evaluation of existing structures and seismic designs of new structures, to buildings and to bridges. The proposed research is fundamental, but the final objective is the development of a practical design methodology.
