Methodology for biodegradability assessment of chemicals and wastewaters in aquatic environment should be improved according to EU guidelines. The research studies will be aimed to deriving a general strategy for risk assessment classification of chemicals due to their toxicity, bio-degradability or persistence. With laboratory tests and simulations biodegradation under different environmental conditions will be evaluated. Using the kinetic data prediction of the extent to which contamination will be spread as well as estimation of duration of in situ self-purification will be possible.
