Abstract
Hybrid inorganic-organic materials with photochromic and ion-conductive properties will be made via the sol-gel route. Organically modified silica gels will serve as a matrix for the incorporation of optically and ionically active species, mostly heteropoly acids (HPA) and suitable metal salts. Structural and performance characteristics of bulk gels and thin films will be investigated by various spectroscopic (UV-VIS, Raman, IR) and electrochemical techniques.
