Abstract
Analytical Electron Microscopy (AEM) is an indispensable tool for structural and chemical investigations of various materials. Main objectives of the proposal are development and optimization of methods of analytical electron microscopy and their use in the research of advanced ceramic materials. Studying given analytical problems will lead to better and more efficient use of AEM techniques for materials characterization. As a consequence higher level of knowledge in the field of material science will result. Examples that will be studied in detail are quantitative energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy of small phases, crystallization, phase distribution and crystallographic relationships in thin films on substrates and wear and corrosion of various types of structural ceramics and magnetic materials.
