Abstract
Regulatory mechanisms by which HMGCoA reductase as the key enzyme in sterol biosynthesis responds to extreme conditions (salinity in particular) will be studied along with quantitative and qualitative estimation of membrane sterol composition of new halophilic and halotolerant black yeast strains (Hortea sp.nova, Arthrodictys sp.nova) isolated in a Slovenian saltern, grown under normal and stressful conditions.
