Abstract
Certain phospholipases A2 have evolved different pharmacological activities during evolution. In the proposed project we plan to investigate tissue receptors for presynaptically neurotoxic phospholipases A2. The main goal of the project is to isolate the neuronal receptor of ammodytoxins, neurotoxic phospholipases A2 from the long-nosed viper venom. This research will contribute to understanding the mechanism of action of ammodytoxins and to their potential use as specific ligands in neurobiology and medicine.
