Significance for science
This was an important project as novel findings about the role of proteases, in particular cysteine cathepsins, in acute kidney injury were found. In addition, a broader knowledge about acute kidney injury were obtained
Significance for the country
Important for Slovenia, as new collaborations with Hungarian scientists were established, offering good potential for future. Also a recognition for Slovenia that Slovene scientists from the group were recognized as excellent partners by the Hungarian research agency OTKA, who was the leading agency in this project.
