In Slovenia we have production of hay on 278.679 hectares of permanent pasture. On this surface we produced 1.633.585 tons of hay. At drying of forage we need to maximize the use of solar radiation, for this reason after mowing we must scatter and ted of forage. These works are carried out with rotary tedders. In paper are presented technical possibilities of different settings of rotary tedders (the angle of rotating heads, spring tines, number of PTO revolutions) and their effects on quality of drying forage. Larger angles (16-21°) of rotating heads are designed for scattering of grass immediately after mowing. Smaller angles (11-16°) of rotating heads are intended for further tedding of drying forage.
