In a block field experiment, which was conducted in 2016 on the experimental field of IHPS in Žalec, we wanted to determine a recommendable seed rate at two hemp varieties (USO 31 in Fedora 17) for different purpose of growing. It was indicated, that among the studied seed rates (20 kg/ha, 30 kg ha, 40 kg/ha and 50 kg/ha) the most suitable was 40 kg/ha at variety USO 31 and 20 kg/ha at variety Fedora 17 to reach the highest yield of inflorescences, but the differences among treatments were not significant. There were in fact significant differences between the blocks because of the pigeons, which ate seed from the soil right after sowing. For the yield of stems at both varieties as the most suitable maximum density of sowing (50 kg/ha) was indicated. Seed yield per plots was not valuated, because birds ate maturing seeds and the results would not be representative. Therefore, we harvested all plots together. As a big problem for hemp seed production, beside birds, harvest was revealed; because of uneven high of the plants (from 1.3 m to 3.0 m), there was a lot of impurities in the yield. Seed yield was there low (263 kg/ha dry matter).

In this preliminary field trial we used 7 varieties of hemp (Fedora 17, Santhica 27, Futura 75, KC Dóra, Finola, Kompolti hibrid TC and Monoica) and two sowing method (seed rate and row spacing at sowing) according to the purpose of production. At the harvest, which took place at the maturity of the seeds, we studied the impact of varieties, sowing method and their interaction on the number of plants per m2, plant height, diameter of stems and yield of seeds and stems. Statistical analysis confirmed the influence of sowing method only for yield of stems, but not on other parameters, although in a few cases we observed differences over few 100 kg for yield of seed within a single variety, which was probably the consequence of row spacing and sowing quantity. The impact of the interaction of variety and sowing method on the measured parameters was statisticaly not confirmed. The biggest yield of seeds (1573 kg /ha) and stems (3248 kg of dry matter/ha) had a variety Futura 75. Analysis of cannabinoids CBD in Δ9THC were perfomed for each variety, but independently of sowing method. Average content of the CBD was between 0.07 do 0.27% in the average content Δ9THC was from 0,005 to 0.059%.
