The book provides a comprehensive overview of electrocardiography from the aspect of wireless and mobile ECG monitoring and its potential for personalized health management. The main advantage of wireless and mobile ECG systems compared to traditional ones is that ECG can be monitored over time with one or a few wireless miniature and therefore non-obtrusive sensors. The book deals with both implementation and efficient application of user-friendly mobile health solutions (mHealth). In seven chapters, it successively presents the historical beginnings and basics of ECG, software support for system components in mHealth, two pilot studies with example recordings, the theoretical background of differential ECG and the synthesis of a standard 12-channel ECG, some commercial ECG sensors, final conclusions and perspectives of mHealth.

The article introduces a unique method of analyzing complex anaerobic systems in real objects on an industrial scale. Microscopic profiling of a 4 MW reactor of the biogas plant with the purpose of providing a comprehensive examination of microbial metabolites was carried out with nuclear magnetic resonance. The multivariate analysis assessed the importance of the differences between reactors, which differed in the amount of added substrates and produced methane. The key metabolites responsible for inhibition and their interactions were identified by a neural network.

The paper deals with a numerical solution of an incompressible Navier-Stokes flow on non-uniform domains. The numerical solution procedure comprises the Meshless Local Strong Form Method for spatial discretization, local pressure-velocity coupling and an algorithm for positioning of computational nodes. The presented numerical approach is demonstrated by solving two benchmark problems, first on regular nodal distributions up to 315844 nodes and then on a domain filled with randomly generated obstacles. It is demonstrated that the presented solution procedure is accurate, stable and convergent, and can effectively solve the fluid flow problem on complex geometries. The results are presented in terms of velocity profiles, convergence plots, and stability analyses.

In this paper we investigate the impact of model and measurement uncertainties on the state-estimation results for different estimators, and different measurement configurations in a three-phase distribution network. To obtain all the sensitivities of interest, the approach with a perturbation of the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions was implemented. We also propose an upper error bound on the interval analysis. The presented approach has been used in a real-world scenario within the SUNSEED FP7 project.

This study considered how expert squash players use situational awareness (SA) to decide on what shot to play. Matches at the 2010 (n = 14) and 2011 (n = 27) Rowe British Grand Prix were recorded and processed using tracking software, developed at University of Ljubljana. Shot type, ball location, players’ positions on court and movement parameters between the time an opponent played a shot prior to the player’s shot to the time of the opponent’s following shot were captured with temporal resolution of 25 times per second. This information was used to find fine-grained SA differences in expert behaviour, even for the same shot type played from the same court area, beyond the usual expert-novice differences. The wealth of acquired data enabled us to detect these differences beyond simple and obvious expert-novice differences that have been widely reported in decision-making in complex situations.
