This elaborate introduces an innovative model for simulating PEM fuel cell in real time, which was in the year 2018 implemented in the professional commercial simulation suite AVL CruiseM. AVL is one of the world leading providers of system level simulation tools for vehicle powertrains and thus this implementation clearly demonstrates transfer of basic knowledge, which was initially developed during PhD studies of the young researcher Gregor Tavčar and further upgraded within research conducted in this Programme, to higher technology readiness levels and implementation into widely used simulation tools that further proves technology transfer with the aim of contributing to the enhanced quality of the environment. This is reasoned by the fact that higher market shares and large market penetration of the environmentally friendly fuel cell technology is tightly connected to the need for a significant cost reduction while simultaneously ensuring a long service life. To comply with this objective further optimization is required on the component and also on the system level. The developed model significantly contributes to higher fidelity virtual development process aimed at optimization of the component design and sizing as well as of the optimisation of control of the system that crucially influence the performance and service life of a PEM fuel cell systems.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16344091The workshop on Cavitation exploitation, organized by Prof M. Dular and his team, was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The workshop was dedicated to sharing and exchanging recent advances and experiences in experimental and numerical techniques dealing with cavitation exploitation. The workshop represented a great and unique opportunity for all invited guests as well as organizers to present their on-going activities, exchange ideas, share their thoughts on current and newly acquired knowledge. The 2 day meeting was attended by 70 scientists from 19 contries, representing academia, private companies and government laboratories who are currently active in the exploitation of cavitation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1537987523Research group was a part of larger consortium which performed for the Company ELES, Slovenian national operator of the power transmission network, the study of the future final energy consumption in the sectors of industry and transport up to 2054. For quality planning of the development of the transmission network ELES must have a quality and realistic assessment of the predicted future consumption and possible generation on the transmission network in concordance with principles of sustainable energy use. To this end, in the framework of this study, scenario projections was prepared of the growth of power, energy efficiency, renewable sources and other which affects the load of the transmission network. In accordance with the environmental obligations it is planned that electricity will become an important element in heating and transport.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16401179Long term cooperation with our foreign partners from Austria and Norway, enabled an introduction of a new concept into acoustics; "Noise immission directivity". This new concept has been defined on the basis of results from the beamforming algorithm research and development of our own hardware, resulting in the unique and novel measurement system. Research results of beamforming algorithms are reflected in the miniaturization of the microphone array as well. The array composed from 33 microphones positioned on the 1.2 m circular geometry has been reduced to 6 cm with only 4 microphones. During the keynote lecture at the 2018 Alps Adria Acoustic Association conference we presented the development of this global innovation and practically demonstrated its usefulness with wide range of applications. Conference participants expressed an incredible interest, so the development of commercial software in which these new algorithms will be implemented has already started for a new client. In the first step, the software will be used for monitoring of environmental noise. In the second step, the software will also include psychoacoustic features to form a feature vector for the classification of noise events, based not only on the propagation direction, but also on the character of noise signal.
