With the pilot inventory, and further with the supplementary inventory of the remaining five regions of Slovenia, we established a new spatial and data layer, which will be one of the most relevant in the future for ensuring sustainable spatial development. By combining various spatial data, in addition to the public viewer (link http://crp.gis.si/), we prepared a more comprehensive data layer for archiving within the framework of the national data corpus Archival of Social Science Data. The transfer of data to the ADP is in the process, available in April 2018. The present inventory (and ongoing research) is based on a combination of knowledge in geography, spatial planning, and governance. An important contribution to increasing access to public information and greater public involvement.
F.15 Development of a new information system/databases
COBISS.SI-ID: 65382242In the process of preparing the new Spatial Development Strategy of Slovenia (SDS of Slovenia), we were involved and responsible for discussing the contents of the spatial and developmental aspects of mountain and border areas within the framework of the SDS and included as external expert support in the preparation of materials and the implementation of focus workshops. It is one of the four basic objectives of the new Spatial Development Strategy, where we can integrate research findings and results derived from the research of natural resources. The identification and continuation of the integration of landscape diversity (landscape specification) into spatial and development planning is one of the fundamental changes in the approach to the preparation of a new strategic spatial document.

COBISS.SI-ID: 63462242The publication »The Soils of Slovenia« published in the co-authorship of pedologists (B. Vrščaj), geographers (B. Repe) and foresters (P. Simončič). It is a unique publication, which we have not yet had in our (research) area. The book presents the entire pedosphere of Slovenia in all aspects (pedological, geographical, production, functional, historical, as well as from the point of view of planning, land use and degradation and natural disasters), not only strictly pedologic. The Soils of Slovenia also contains a geographical section that enables a content link and a direct comparison to the other landscape elements, making it possible to link to other applied and basic research whose inseparable part of the study is soil (eg geodiversity, natural disasters, hot points of regional diversity or flexibility identification etc.).
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 5268840In Print Members of the programme group transferre their research findings most directly to the younger geographers through the preparation of high-quality university textbooks. The first university textbook in the field of social geography deals with various aspects of human collective spatial behaviour, the forms of organization of people in related groups and communities with diverse effects on space (landscape, environment, etc.), which in substance interferes with the part of the research program. It is aimed for the creation of basic theoretical and methodological principles of geography education. In this context, the role of minorities or larger human community as the building block of society in the space is emphasized, and hence these (social groups, communities) are active factors, designers and carriers of change. Since the student population (geographers) did not have this kind of teaching aids, foreign, and especially American devices, are (in spite of unquestionable qualities) only an approximation. It is precisely the monitoring and directing of human spatial behaviour that is what the content of the research program aims at. It explains the emerging and preserving socio-spatial differentiation of the Slovene cultural landscape, the causes of these, which tackle the dynamic processes of social stratification and the specific ways and directions of the functioning of social groups and communities.
D.10 Educational activities
In the monograph, the contributions of the members of the program group link the research work of the past and planned programming period - suggesting the direction of research for a resileinet society. The decision for the sustainable regional development concept is paralleled by the initial finding that studies so far, mostly based on developmental paradigm in accordance with the continuity of trends to date, have run out and that new approaches have to be found. This is offered by the sustainable paradigm. This is firstly a conscious choice: the direction of future thinking, planning, working, and managing has to consider the principles of sustainability as a primary, most important aspect of development. Because of the mentioned tendencies, it is necessary that geographers contribute to an actual and faster transition to a more sustainably functioning society. In addition to many scientific and expert contributions, monographs and parts thereof, presentations at renowned foreign and domestic scientific conferences, etc., we also present a portion of our findings in our joint monograph, warning of the fundamental obstacles and showing the possibilities for searching for some solutions. Due to its scope alone, the publication cannot present all fields included in the four-year studies.
