The research work represents the results of syntheses and characterization of new material (the multilayer shell with incorporated pigment particles in the core), synthesized via in-situ sol gel process. The work was performed in the collaboration with researchers from international and national institutes, namely University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), National Institute of Chemistry and Institute Jozef Stefan. Beside the synthesis of new material with improved protection properties, the important part of the research was also characterization of non-ideal porous system in the multilayer shell via (1) electron tomography (EF-TEM analysis) and (2) high resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis (HAAD-STEM).
