The vine varieties published in this monograph were entered in the Vine Selection for the wine-growing regions of Podravje and Posavje on the basis of the results of the UC research for viticulture and winemaking Meranovo (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia No. 6/21). This is the greatest achievement of the department in terms of the transfer of knowledge directly into viticultural practice, with the basic goal of minimizing negative impacts on the environment with plant protection products and thus lower CO2 footprint.
F.34 Consultancy
COBISS.SI-ID: 57592835Conventional process of plant protection product (hereinafter PPP) used against diseases, fungus, insects and weeds runs with a range of spraying techniques and equipment, such as sprayers, air blasters and foggers. However, in many cases the PPP residues remain in the environment and find their way into food, despite several different models to calculate the correct dosage of PPP. To overcome this problem it is necessary to integrate the tree canopy properties (the density of leaf area) in the model with intelligent automated systems, which enables controlling the amount of spray mixture in orchards. This chapter represents the development of intelligent decision-making model, which operates on the principle of fuzzy logic algorithm and generates the pulse width modulation (hereinafter PWM) signal in real-time.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4646700Different cellulose fibres have been traditionally used for textile and technical applications, however in addition to the traditional cellulosic fibres, fibres isolated from some other non-traditional plants are recently studied for different advanced applications, e.g. cellulose based composites or nanocomposites, etc.

COBISS.SI-ID: 22157590Beekeepers establish a breeding program to evaluate the performance of various honey bee races. Honey bee race with specific geographically determined characteristics is a result of natural selection in their homeland. Native bees are thus adapted to their original environment, and further selection needs to be performed to adjust beekeepers requirements. Pure race present natural resources and material for economic breeding. Genetic variability and preserving the autochthonous managed honey bee populations are important objectives of performing the quality breeding program. The quality selection and queens rearing practices and breeding ensure economic production in the beekeeping industry. Aspects of technological solutions including honey bee management, varroa diagnosis and control, queen rearing and honey be colonies production are discussed in the chapter.
F.04 Increase of the technological level
COBISS.SI-ID: 4641068The goal of the project was to test specific technological measures and to transfer them to wider practice in order to increase the competitiveness of apple production. This fruit species is still the leader in Slovenia in terms of production volume. One part of the measures was related to topics such as optimizing the quantity and quality of yield and measures in postharvest treatment of fruit. The second part of the content included the study of the possibility of fruit production with reduced use of chemical agents (eg without the use of herbicides) and implementation of measures of soil management in the orchard, which raise biodiversity and facilitate adaptation of perennial fruit plants to climate change (soil water regime, soil viability…).
