The patent describes an adapter device and method for acquisition and transfer of signals from a host device that has no built-in external communication capability, i.e. no communication ports. In one embodiment the adapter device includes an acquisition module configured to acquire data signals from the host device; and a transfer module, which is communicably connected to the acquisition module, configured to transfer said acquired data signals to an external device. The adapter device may include a processor and voltage level shifter. The adapter device may be connected in the signalling path of an LCD display in the host device so that it can sniff, interpret (if necessary) and transmit the data being sent by the host device to its LCD screen to an external device. The embodiment described is the modification of a weighing/kitchen scale, with no in-built means of communicating externally, so that an adapter device is connected internally to its LCD screen circuitry such that the adapter device can sniff and send out measurements taken by the scale to an external device, such as a connected smart-phone. The adapter may communicate using a wired connection or wirelessly, e.g. Bluetooth, to the external device. An wireless adapter/retro-fit kit is also described.

COBISS.SI-ID: 29670951Writing data in a structured text file enables faster and more robust data transfer to an electronic database. The existing text is formatted in accordance with an agreed standard that allows automatic transfer of data from a text file to relational database tables using a software tool (parser) developed for this purpose. At the same time, we also had to solve several methodological problems, especially the issue of storing references to original archival sources and their editions. We will use a modified Citation Style Language system, which is designed in the xml standard and is used by a number of research tools for organizing bibliographies (eg. Zotero). With the help of the developed software tool WinEdt generated e-book.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33300007DSCTool is a statistical tool for comparing performance of stochastic optimization algorithms on a single benchmark function (i.e. single-problem analysis) or a set of benchmark functions (i.e., multiple-problem analysis). DSCTool implements a recently proposed approach, called Deep Statistical Comparison (DSC), and its variants. The main advantage of DSCTool are its REST web services, which means all its functionalities can be accessed from any programming language.

COBISS.SI-ID: 32930343The invited lecture was intended to present the work and results from the research on the topic of nutrition and food. The presentation was given to the R&D department of the world leading company in the field of nutrition, health and well-being Nestle. Based on this presentation, we have established a long-term cooperation and once a year we organize a joint workshop entitled AI & Food as part of the Applied Machine Learning Days (EPFL) congress. At the same time, we are co-editors of a special issue of the international scientific journal Frontiers AI & Food and Nutrition.

COBISS.SI-ID: 32077863The MANTIS book highlights the fundamentals of Condition-Based Maintenance related conceptual ideas, an overall idea of preventive maintenance, the economic impact and technical solution, as outcomes of the MANTIS project. The core content of the book describes the creation of a maintenance-oriented reference architecture that support the maintenance data lifecycle, to enable the use of novel kinds of maintenance strategies for industrial machinery. The key enablers are collecting data through Cyber-Physical Systems, the usage of machine learning techniques and advanced visualization for the enhanced monitoring of the machines. This book is suitable for industrial and maintenance managers that want to implement a new strategy for maintenance in their companies.
