The authors explore the concept of restorative justice, as depicted and enacted in Slovenia. Restorative justice represents an alternative to the classical criminal law concepts of punishment and is realized mainly through the institute of mediation, which is analysed in detail by the authors. There is more room in for the non-legal when compared to the regular procedure, but at the same time the process of mediation puts the subjectivity of the decision-maker in a different light.

The chapter depicts the obsession modern culture and science has with the brain in its most crude physical form. If in the past criminology resorted to measuring the criminals' skulls, today modern science offers more precise and seemingly more trustworthy methods of analysing an individual's body - and through it their soul. Genes are a modern finding, which many believe hold all the secrets to the human nature and behaviour, including situations, when such behaviour turns criminal. The issue of resposibility is thus newly awakened in the field of psychoanalysis.

The latter also applies to the headlines of such texts, which are the mail subject of this research. The analysis covered headlines of media texts published in the period between 2003 and 2017, which amounts to 10,899 headlines. The identified dynamic of media reporting through headlines can be observed via different realisations that are explained in the article from a linguistic and criminological perspective.
