Dr. Vita Poštuvan wrote the manual Talking about suicide, which is aimed at anyone who comes into contact with an individual in distress; and intends to ask him about suicidal thoughts and to talk to him about it. The handbook is an extremely important novelty in Slovenia, as it empowers the gatekeepers (individuals who are in daily close contact with vulnerable groups; e.g. teachers and other pedagogical workers, social workers, police officers, healthcare workers, paramedics, priests, youth leaders, caterers, etc.), as well as all other individuals who recognize severe distress in a person in their community. It provides practical support to a person who wants to make contact with an individual in distress in starting and directing a conversation about the difficult topic of suicidal thoughts and behaviours, which is still a taboo. The manual can be reached in electronic form, which enables a quick and easy to access to anyone.

Through the webinar, she presented over 50 listeners with some basic information about suicide and signs that help to recognize a person in distress, and guided them through individual steps that can help them successfully address this topic with someone and talk about it.
