The article analyzes texts that thematize various aspects of Slovene identity, published in Naša sloga from 1890 to 1915. From the analysis of the observed texts, a conclusion can be drawn about the significant connection between the positions Slovenes and Croats in Istria, which is conditioned by a common heritage and a similar attitude towards To the Habsburg Monarchy.

Their inclusion into public political life is highly important for the status of the minority. Slovenes in Croatia are well known to be apolitical, refusing to publicly identify themselves as members of the Slovene minority. Their lack of activity in politics contributes to their less favourable status, manifested above all in the acquisition of certain rights.
