Members of the programme group presented their work in more than 10 invited lectures at international congresses. Such lectures are important not only for their scientific contents but also because they enable presentation of slovenian science and of slvenian research institutions and groups. One of the above mentioned lectures was, for example, a lecture 'Characterization of microporous and mesoporous solids using complementary diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopic techniques' given by professor Kaučič at the '4th International FEZA conference' in 2008 in Paris.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3992602In collaboration with Silkem we have developed an industrial procedure for the synthesis and compaction of zeolites X and P. The compacted materials are typical, non-dusting components of modern washing powders and they exhibit considerably improved physico-chemical and washing properties. They also contain a higher content of washing-active substances. An important health-related aspect of compacted products is their low possibility for causing alergic reactions and other harmful influences. The new technological process of compaction is not limited to a washing powder industry materials.

COBISS.SI-ID: 000000000Our reserach group participates intensively in the research oriented training of students at graduate and postgraduate level. Additionally, several members of the group are giving lectures at the Faculty of chemistry and chemical technology at the University of Ljubljana, and at the Faculty for postgraduate studies at the University of Nova Gorica. Lessons in Heterogeneous catalysts, Crystallography, Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, and Chemistry allow post graduate students to learn about new materials and about powerful characterization techniques.
D.10 Educational activities
COBISS.SI-ID: 242205184The active cooperation with Salonit Anhovo has focused on the research of blended cements in the past years. The uses of fly ash and limestone enable the decrease of clinker production; the resulting blended cement altogether includes less energy-intensive production process and lower emissions of greenhouse gas CO2 into the environment. The research on hydration of ternary blended cements focuses on the characterization and properties of phases formed as well as on the extensive characterization of the entire hydrated system on micro- and nanoscale levels.
