Member of the program group J. Dolinšek is the director and organizer of the annual European School in Materials Science (in short: Euroschool). Euroschool is one of the activities of the European Network of Excellence Complex Metallics Alloys within the FP6 EU Program (duration 2005 - 2010, SLO principal investigator prof. dr. Janez Dolinšek, contract no. NMP3-CT-2005-500140).

COBISS.SI-ID: 22348071The above paper reports polarization-enhanced method of NQR detection and its realization towards amplification of the 14N NQR signal through coupling to the hydrogen in the TNT molecules. Under specific conditions, the strong nuclear spin magnetization of 1H can be transffered to the system of 14N spins, which enchances the detectable 14N signal by a factor up to 100x. Employing this technique, 1g of TNT could be detected within a few seconds.
F.13 Development of new production methods and tools or processes
COBISS.SI-ID: 19812903Smart materials exhibit properties that are mutually exclusive in classical materials. Such combinations are electrical conductor - thermal insolator, hard and brittle material with anomalously low friction coeficient, where the phenomenon of cold welding in vacuum is absent. We have investigated complex metallics alloys Al-Cr-Fe and epsilon phases in the system Al-Pd-transition metal, which showed the smart combination of electrical conductor - thermal insolator with the electrical conductivity typical of metals and thermal conductivity as low as that of a window glass.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 21370151Optical light shutters are massively used for darkening/lightening of displays and LCD monitors. Darkening of the display in the welding mask is a demanding issue as switching should be performed in the shortest possible time of a few microseconds for the efficent protection of the eyes. The patent describes the procedure and protocol for the fabrication of polymer-compensated layer in the LCD light shutter. Techical details of the construction are shown as well. We expect a routine use of the patented procedure in the light shutters of the new generation. The patent is international.
