Important results of these measurements have recently been published in the Nature journal. This type of the CP violation manifests in the time-integrated decay rates. It was observed for the first time in the system of B mesons in B0 -) pi+pi- decays and represents an important confirmation of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa formalism. The phenomenon was confirmed in the decays of B0 -) K+pi- and B+ -) K+pi0. Recent measurements, however, show a significant difference in the asymmetries for the latter two decay modes and hence point to possible limitations of the SM description.

D0 mixing is a very rare process which evaded experimental observation for three decades. Researchers of the Belle collaboration succeeded to measure it in 2007. Beside the discovery itself several other measurements of mixing parameters and possible CP violation in the system of neutral D mesons have been performed. Importance of the results lies in the fact that the measured values of mixing parameters are found at the upper edge of still unreliable theoretical predictions. Consequently, it is impossible to say whether D0 mixing is a purely SM process or perhaps a sign of New Physics.

Measurements of the Belle group have clearly triggered an increased interest in spectroscopy of heavy particles composed of c quarks. Particularly large impact within the scientific community have the discoveries of several states which cannot be placed in the expected system of mesons and baryons in the framework of the quark model. Among those are X(3872), Y(3940) and Z(4430), where the latter is the only charged exotic state. First observations and measurements of predicted mesons, especially of broad D** and DsJ mesons, are also of large importance for the tests of the strong interaction.

The published papers describe sensors, read-out ASIC's and detector modules of the ATLAS SemiCoductor Tracker, and results of their tests in high-energy pion beams. ATLAS SCT consists of 4088 detector modules mounted on four concentric barrels and nine disks on each of the end-caps. The papers summarize the activities that led to the installation of the SCT into the heart of ATLAS in 2006 (barrel) and 2007 (end-caps), followed by integration with other ATLAS detectors and commissioning with cosmic rays at the end of 2007 and in the beginning of 2008.

Slovenian group played a leading role in the development, construction and installation of the ATLAS Beam Conditions Monitor (BCM). An innovative approach, utilizing polycrystalline diamond sensors coupled to fast front-end electronics, results in single minimum-ionizing particle sensitivity with sub-nanosecond time resolution. This enables efficient and timely detection of beam anomalies through time-of-flight signatures. Eight detector modules were installed on the ATLAS Pixel detector support structure in January 2007.
